Blue Hacks is the Computer Society of the Ateneo’s (CompSAt) annual student hackathon. Last year, Blue Hacks was opened to non-Ateneans for the first time and it was a huge success.
Over 100 student programmers from Ateneo de Manila, University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, and other universities across the Philippines will once again come together to create applications under the theme of promoting social development in the Philippines.
Software Freedom Day is an annual worldwide celebration of free open source software (FOSS) that takes place every third Saturday of September. It is celebrated around the general objective of promoting the benefits of using high quality FOSS education, in government, at home and in business — in short, everywhere!
The first celebration of SFD took place in 2004 with twelve teams participating. At its peak in 2011, more than 400 events were organized by FOSS advocates in over 100 cities worldwide.

The discussion includes the impact of this initiative in L10n Translation in our locale and for them to be able to learn how to contribute in this project.
Feedback from the participants indicate that all the objectives were met to some degree and they are willing to help in this endeavor. In particular, those attendees said that they had acquired new knowledge and was fully understood the purpose of L10n.
The event was very helpful and we encourage them to disseminate this information to there friends and colleagues. We are also planning to conduct this event in our region this coming months.
